Thank you all for the overwhelmingly wonderful open house!!! If you came it never was a big rush of people because it was four days long, but all four days there was always someone here and there wasn't really much downtime for us. For Katie and I it ended up being one of the best shows of our careers.
I really enjoyed catching up with people I haven't seen for a while. Sometimes it is hard when life happens and it isn't all sunshine and lollipops. Truly humbling for us is the idea that people look at our artwork and find healing or a sense of calm. That really is why we do this. It is the way we connect to community and feel a sense of purpose. The other stuff is great but this is the core.
Thank you all for supporting Michael Imes. He said he wasn't expecting much, but we showed him otherwise! It felt so good to sell his work. Helping someone who helped you. In many ways I was more excited by that than selling my own work.
It has taken two weeks for me to somewhat recover. Because you all bought so much I have had to really scramble to be able to finish out my schedule, exhausted but am ready for Plaza and St James Court and with new work and new big work. Thankfully I had ideas and things I wanted to paint. It is just hard to be creative when your starting point is depletion. I never want to push myself this hard ever again. This is the end of me doing a full schedule. If this is the way it is, I just can't do it anymore. I literally have had no downtime this year and its now fall. Not sure what comes next, I am not quitting painting, but I am ending this part of my life. Hopefully I do a couple shows next year but limited and at my own pace. Thank you one and all for helping me to get to this point in my career. I am pretty floored.
