A trip to Lake Superior

I try to get to up to Lake Superior once a year for spiritual renewal. This year I hope to get up there twice! All are little plein air paintings from Madeline Island, Bayfield and Washburn. My funnest one was painting the sunset on Madeline Island. I was sitting by the ferry and post office starting to draw it out when people started lining up for the ferry! But then an act of God occured. A 1977 Chevy Van plopped itself in front of me. Katie talked to him in hopes of him not moving but I really only had 20 minutes until the ferry came. I really had to move! Also interesting to me was how red/orange the Chequamagon Bay was due to recent rains. I was lucky to paint it with a front lit stormy sky forming a nice compliment of blue and orange colors.
